The Week In Review

By Sunlight Foundation & Participatory Politics Foundation

ADVERTISEMENTS

That’s all, folks. Health care reform is finally, truly over. With the House’s passage of the reconciliation fix (H.R.4872) to the health care bill (H.R.3590), the complete Democratic health care reform plan has finally made its way through Congress. The year-long debate has been wild but this week’s climax may have been the most thrilling. Relive all the excitement by checking what we’ve been up to this week at OpenCongress:

  • Donny laid out the endgame strategy for Democrats as they tried to pass health care.
  • Check out what’s actually in the health care bill.
  • Also check out how your congressman or woman voted on health care.
  • Little known fact: the health care bill requires lawmakers to buy insurance on the new health care exchanges.
  • Here’s a helpful refresher course on the reconciliation process.
  • As part of their reconciliation obstruction strategy, the GOP shut down a government transparency hearing that the Sunlight Foundation’s Ellen Miller was testifying at.
  • If the Senate is good for one thing, it’s bickering.
  • The public option is still dead, but that doesn’t mean it won’t come back in the future.
  • And to top things off, here’s what the Democrats accomplished last night by passing the reconciliation bill.

Thanks again for the great participation on the site this week and for all your great comments. Remember to become a fan of OpenCongress on Facebook and to follow us on Twitter at @OpenCongress and on Google Buzz.
