Inside with an Intern

Hola folks,
My name is Kevin Shapiro and I?m a summer intern for Congressman Conaway in Washington, DC. I?m from Austin and graduated from Westlake High School in 2005 where I played varsity lacrosse. I decided to get of Austin and go a thousand miles away from home for school at the University of Georgia. I?m an economics major and I?m about to begin my senior year at UGA. I am a member of the SAE fraternity at Georgia and an active participant in a plethora of campus activities including the Ham Ansley fund raiser for Leukemia. I love sports and I especially enjoy college football, GO DAWGS!!!!.
For the first half of the summer of 2008 I participated in a study abroad in Tanzania. For anyone not familiar with Tanzania, it?s a fairly large country in East Africa. During the study abroad I had the opportunity to visit an orphanage, snorkel off the coast of Zanzibar, take a four day safari through the Serengeti, and finally climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. Made it to the peak!!!
I got up to DC about a week ago and it has been not stop excitement. Congressman Conaway?s office has kept me pretty busy, whether it be answering phones, responding to constituents concerns, or giving tours of the Capital. I?m ecstatic about having the opportunity to be up on the hill and interning. After undergrad at UGA I hope to attend law school at either SMU or the University of Texas.
