: Jacksonville Personal Injury LawyerWoman Straps Beer Into Seatbelt, Baby Is Not
By Eddie Farah
Sounds like this driver had her priorities straight.
20-year-old Amber Tedrick jumped in the back seat to go to a nearby grocery store to get food for a Super Bowl party. The driver, Tina Darlene Williams, 46, was an acquaintance. Tedrick buckled in her 16 month old since she didn't have a car seat in this car.
In a minute, Williams was careening through St. Augustine traffic. She had a case of Busch beer strapped into a seat belt beside her. Twice she missed hitting other cars.
Tedrick was nervous and says she told Williams to pull over. That's when a St. Johns County sheriff's deputy did it for her. He had seen Williams nearly hit two cars and run a red light.
Williams did not pass a field sobriety test on U.S. 1 in St. Augustine. She was arrested on the spot on charges of drunk driving, child abuse, posession of drug paraphernalia. Oh, and she had no driver's license. She refused to do a breath test.
The beer was secure with a lap belt. The toddler was not.
