An attorney has filed a lawsuit against the Minnesota diocese and a former Minnesota priest who allegedly sexually abused a teenage girl. The lawsuit accuses Father Joseph Jeyapaul of telling the girl it “was a sin not to touch him” and was threatened by the priest if she denied him. Jeyapaul has been charged with two counts of criminal sexual conduct but has fled the country. The lawyer has also accused the church of covering up various priests’ sexual misconducts by ignoring warnings from local dioceses and failing to investigate.
