City Of Austin, TX Backed Out Of Settlement, Suit Claims

The family of a man killed by an Austin, Texas, police officer last year has filed a second suit against the city, claiming they backed out of a settlement the parties had reached related to the shooting. The suit claims the city agreed to pay the family $750,000 to settle their lawsuit but backed out when the city council voted it down. The officials engaged in the settlement discussion “fraudulently said they had authority from the City Council to create a final agreement,” the suit states.
