Chain of Collisions on Freeway

A chain of collisions occurred Sunday morning when a man was run over while trying to cross the freeway on foot and ended with another car in flames. The series of accidents started when the driver of a Honda Accord lost control of his car and crashed into the center median. The driver and two passengers ran across the freeway and made it safely to the right shoulder. For unknown reasons, the driver, a 22-year-old unidentified man from Oakland, then tried to return to the Honda. While darting back across the lanes toward the car, he was struck and killed by an Acura in the No. 2 lane. Cars continued to crash into each other as they approached the first vehicle. A Mercury rear-ended a 2002 Lincoln Town Car, which overturned and erupted into flames
