Unemployed Pop Star Becomes a Legal Assistant

Or On-the-Job Training to Sue Your Sleazy Manager

I've seen people accept legal assistant positions for many reasons, but Taiwanese pop singer Yuki Hsu's reason is a new one for me:

She said that she was taking the opportunity to study legal principles in preparation for her eventual lawsuit against her former management company to resolve contract issues.

Channel News Asia reports that her allegations against her former management team include failure to pay commissions and an attempt to facilitate an indecent proposal from a businessman after a performance in China.

Hsu's professional qualifications for a legal career include a debut album with catchy tunes like "Dub-i-Dub" that sold a million copies in the late 1990s, and acting in Taiwanese dramas.

According to CpopAccess.com, Hsu is not being paid for her work, despite being the main breadwinner for her family and relying on friends for financial support. She said that she took the job because she "wanted to do research in order to solve her legal problems."

Maybe someone should tell Hsu that legal assistants get paid to do legal research.
