Being Productive When Business is Slow

ADVERTISEMENTS
What can you do to stay productive when business has slowed down? The first thing any business professional should do is handle all back logged work. Back logged work includes completing all old jobs, finishing all paper work pending on your desk, filing all old papers, and wrapping up all loose ends for past clients.

You have now completed the most important task handling all back logged work. The next important task to do when business slows down is organize. Make sure that everything in the office is put away properly. There should not be any piles of papers stacked anywhere in the office. Make sure you clean off your desk top, clean out your desk drawers, and clear all clutter from the office.

Now that all the loose ends are completely wrapped up and everything is filed and put away properly you should feel really good about yourself. However, business is still slow so you have extra time on your hands what should you do? This is a great time to take on all those extra projects you?ve been wanting to start or finish but never had a chance. For some of us, that would mean starting a blog, write a book, or revamping your marketing materials all great ways to productively spend your extra time.

Business is still slow and you are growing concerned. Since you don?t want to attract ?lack of business,? you need to find productive measures that will attract new business. There are many things you can do to remain productive and attract new clients.

The first recommendation I always make to my clients is to clear out old files and take them to storage. Once your clients work is done, you probably need to maintain the file for awhile, but that doesn?t mean the work needs to remain in the filing cabinet or on your computer. Instead pack up the hard files and transfer the computer files to disk then remove the file completely by taking it to storage. Do this with all old client files. By completing this task you have cleared room for new clients in the cabinets and on your computer. You are attracting new clients by your actions of clearing out the old and making room for the new.

Another great way to attract new clients is by joining networking organizations. What better time to be social than when you have time on your hands. You have the opportunity to network with other local business professionals. Let your neighbors know who you are and what you do. By taking this action you are sending the message you are open to receive new clients. You will definitely attract new clients by networking with others.

There are many ways to be productive and attract new clients. You may have thought of several ideas while reading this blog entry. Just remember always be positive in your actions. Let the world know you are open for business and ready to receive it! You?ll take the world by storm in no time!
