: Practical ParalegalismCareer-Dressing 101: Stuff I Stole at Target

ADVERTISEMENTS
You know I love the attention-getting headlines (a blogger I much admire recently said she should pay me to write post headlines for her), but I also love career clothes that legal staffers can afford. And I'm not big on dry-cleaning, having once in my career worked at a firm where suits were preferred, and my monthly dry-cleaning bill was more than my monthly electricity bill. The Raleigh-Wake Paralegal Association generously gave me a Target gift card after I recently spoke at their October conference, and with it I scored these terrific Mossimo® Women's TRS Pants - Black Chalk Stripe. The classic fit is great, and while they aren't lined (and I wouldn't expect them to be at $24.99) the fabric is a good weight, has a little stretch for ultimate comfort, and the subtle pin-striping (which you can't really see in the catalog photo) is awesome. They are machine-washable; my trick for making Merona and Mossimo dress slacks last forever is to wash them in the delicate cycle
on cold, and then hang them up to dry.

And I couldn't resist throwing a few of the Mossimo® Women's Ultrasoft Cardigan Sweaters (in Dark Heather Grey and Roman Seaport [fancy talk for teal]) on sale at $18 each in my cart. They look great styled with a thin tank or t-shirt, but belts are extremely popular this season and a great way to jazz up a bland look. Try adding skinny or wide belts, or a great scarf, to make your cardi wardrobe really versatile.
I'd love to hear about your recent career-dressing budget finds. You can send me a picture, a shopping link, and a few words about why you stole, I mean, love it - and voila! we have a guest post!
