Gov. Sarah Palin: Conservative of the Year

By Phil

ADVERTISEMENTS

The woman who gave Sen. John McCain any chance of garnering votes in the 2008 election has been named Human Events‘ “Conservative of the Year,” and no wonder. As Rush Limbaugh recently commented, while Barack Obama’s supporters showed up to simply be there, Gov. Palin’s supporters not only showed up (and typically to overflowing venues), but had an energy of purpose because she showed up and represented common-sense views shared by “fly-over country” Americans.

Three great articles of interest:

Gov. Sarah Palin is a major threat to the left, to the point of potentially defeating their ideas in much the same way as Ronald Reagan did in the 80’s: she’s smart (how can a small-town mother with children go from the PTA to Governor?), she’s pretty (when’s the last time you saw a picturesque, rabid “femi-nazi?”), and she’s fiercely independent (she’s a lifetime member of the NRA, knows how to hunt, knows how to conduct business, and makes you enjoy the fact that you’re getting mowed over).

She has worked her way up through all levels of government — both local and State — and headed a major energy commission in Alaska before taking on the governorship. Not only that, but she spearheaded what is arguably America’s largest government-headed, private sector project — the nearly $30 billion Alaska Gas Pipeline.

Furthermore, let’s not forget that as Alaska’s Governor, she’s in charge of NORAD (did you know that?). That therefore means that she had more experience and security clearances than pretty much all 535 members of Congress combined.

My bet is we’ll see her in 2012.
