Miscellaneous

Despite the crap spewing from most radio stations (WWOZ excluded, of course), it?s not hard to find good music. Do what I did a few days ago:

1. Read Keith Spera?s list of top 10 local (New Orleans, LA) CDs for 2008. If you?re ambitious, read Offbeat?s list of top 50 local CDs for 2008.
2. Buy each CD listed that you don?t already own.

My personal top-5 list:

1. Dr. Michael White, Blue Crescent
2. Dr. John, City that Care Forgot
3. Bobby Lounge, Bobby?s Back in Town
4. Henry Butler, PiaNOLA
5. Theresa Andersson, Hummingbird, Go!

Next four, in no particular order:

• Little Freddie King, Messin? Round tha House
• Irma Thomas, Simply Grand
• Truckstop Honeymoon, Great Big Family
• Tab Benoit, Night Train to Nashville

One more thing: If you mail-order any of these CDs, mail-order them from Louisiana Music Factory.
