Miscellaneous

After seeing some YouTube videos from ?The Last Waltz? (The Band?s farewell concert), I had to get the DVD. Last night, Suzanne and I watched it. Now ?The Last Waltz? isn?t just a concert video. It?s a movie directed by Martin Scorsese, consisting mainly of the concert and a few other live performances by The Band.

So how good is this movie? If you had asked my general opinion of 1970s music a few days ago, I would have said that it was mostly crap?after all, it produced disco. But this movie reminded me that the 1970s produced some pretty damn good music too.

All the performances were great. A few were moving. The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down is in the ?moving? category.
