Get Paid for Job Interviews

By Robert J. Ambrogi

ADVERTISEMENTS
A new career site that marked its official launch this week is targeted at professionals who are not looking for a new job. In a new twist on playing hard to get, the site's tantalizing premise is that your lack of interest in a new job combined with your stellar credentials will add up to employers wanting to pay to talk to you. Called NotchUp, the site has been operating on an invitation-only basis for the last couple weeks and was opened to the public yesterday. As the Web site says, "NotchUp is for you if you're happy at your job, you're good at what you do and you're not looking for a new job."

Once registered, you will need to create a profile similar to one you'd use for a networking site such as LinkedIn. You also set your interview price -- the amount an interested employer would pay to talk to you. A calculator helps you set your interview price, factoring in your industry, experience, education and job function. It calculated mine at $1,370, which seemed high, so I listed my price at $800. I figure if I get enough interviews, I can quit working for a living.

Note: The site is exceedingly slow and prone to crashing today, so I'd advise waiting a few days before registering.
