What's the future of state court research?
A forthcoming essay in a forthcoming Justice System Journal asks Will state courts research essentially run out of novel topics or new ideas?
See On the Future of State Courts Research, Jeff Yates, Voir Dire (April 17, 2009).
If the answer were yes, it would be a very short essay indeed, and possibly the last issue of JSJ! Chuck would have to retire and become a roller coaster tour guide. (Hey Chuck, is roller coaster
hyphenated or not?)
Of course the answer is no. Otherwise everyone would be out of a job and have to blog for food.
But why ask the question? Certainly there are many things we don't know yet. There are still quirks in the system we don't understand. For example, we know trials are vanishing
but where to? And why? And does it signify the death of the Seventh Amendment or the robustness of ADR? We need to keep the questions fresh and the answers fresher.
So keep asking those questions, and by all means, if you know them, send us the answers.
