Data Is Fun

By jeremyblachman

ADVERTISEMENTS

Really neat video of a TED talk about visualizing data and how we can turn isolated bits of information into useful and interesting observations if we take some time to analyze it and turn it into a pretty picture.

For instance: graphing relationship breakups as announced over Facebook, throughout the course of the year -- the guy giving the talk found that there were two peaks -- right before the holidays in December, and around the start of spring -- preparation for summer vacation?  Perhaps intuitive, if you think about it (well, the end-of-year peak, at least), but interesting to have data to demonstrate.

Anyway, it's 18 minutes worth watching.
