: Structured Settlements 4Real"Rusty" Structured Settlements Calculator Allows People To "Optimally Monetize" Their Ignorance
By John Darer
This man is the registrant of a website called Structured Settlements Calculator that does anything but what it says. His name is Daniel Rust and he's from the Seattle area of Washington state and is Chief Technology Officer of a start up company called EVO Landing. According to an article which appeared in January 2008 in SeattlePI.com, Rust said "our technology semantically analyzes the domain name to determine what type of site it should be, as well as identifies new niche markets to insure optimal monetization and relevance of all the sites".

In the opinion of this author the platform that Daniel Rust develops and promotes (as evident in Structured Settlements Calculator) is harmful to consumers (in this case tort victims, profoundly injured people and their families, because there obviously are no checks and balances. The platform also enables people with little to no knowledge of the subject matter to "optimally monetize" their ignorance. Is this something for America and Seattle to be proud of?
Among the things that Daniel Rust apparently feels are newsworthy on structured settlements are:
- A June 23rd story about how Wayne County election commission tossed out an effort to recall 5 council members who tried to oust Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick
- Black Clevelanders proud of Obama's nomination victory
- The acrimony between the Westborough School Committee and the Westborough Teachers association
- A June 22, 2008 story about SEPTA transit police to go on strike
On the site, Structured Settlements Calculator, Daniel Rust further:
- Micharacterizes advertisements for HP calculators which are of little help to structured settlements for the purpose of making a profit.
- Promotes for profit what are charcaterized as "structured settlement calculator" that are actually downloads for calculators dealing with weight and metabolism assessment. In other words another example of what it actually is, IS NOT what is being advertised.
- Peppers the page with pay per click ads to increase his profit from confused consumers who are drawn to the page by the false advertising of a structured settlements calculator.
