Peer Pressure Working in Buffalo and Hartwell?

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

Buffalo, NY based structured settlement firm Forge Consulting, LLC apparently took our "Beer Brewer" needle to heart and has corrected the assignees on its corporate website. However in displaying its usual "penchant for detail" it has overlooked an important facet of the "Beer Brewer" needle, thus appearing to make it non compliant with New York Insurance Advertising rules. A January 8, 2008 opinion of the New York State Insurance Department Office of General Counsel makes it clear that the city and state of the home office of each annuity issuer must be displayed. How about it Forge?

Once again if you do insurance business in New York State you must list the home office location (city and state) of each annuity issuer. Simply displaying a logo, or the name of the company and stating that "we represent these fine companies" does not appear to be acceptable in light of the opinion.
