: The GavelPastor: Churches to Join IA Ouster Effort
By Peter Hardin
The Rev. Cary Gordon, a pastor with Cornerstone World Outreach, has called for churches to help press for the ouster of three Iowa Supreme Court justices in retention elections this fall, and he said 100 churches have signed on.
At the same a Washington-based group, Americans United for Separation of Church and State, asked the Internal Revenue Service to investigate a letter sent by Gordon to pastors around the state, urging them to instruct their congregations to vote no on the retention ballot, according to a Sioux City Journal article.
?History has already shown who inevitably wins when state wages war against the authority of the church of the living God,? Gordon said about the investigation request, according to an Iowa Independent report. ?So let the battle between state and church begin.”
The three justices are the targets of a campaign to deny them reelection following an Iowa Supreme Court decision legalizing same-sex marriage. You can learn more about it from Gavel Grab.
