: Structured Settlements 4RealPartnership For "What's Dis"?
By John Darer
Pressman Settlements Corporation of Buffalo, NY is making it easy for the competition through its inattention to detail.
From the Pressman Settlments website:
How safe are structured settlements?
Pressman states that "structured settlement payments are funded by either a life insurance company annuity or a IS Treasury Bond" THEN goes on to state *that structured settlements are funded through multi billlion dollar life insurance companies".
- Fact: Last time we checked, US Treasury bonds are backed by the full faith and credit of the United States Goverment
States that Structured Settlements are funded with life insurance companies are funded using life insurance companies with "strong" ratings from AM Best, Standard & Poors, Fitch and Weiss
- Fact: AM Best does NOT offer a "strong" rating Click here
- Fact: For Standard and Poors and Fitch "strong rating" is an "A". Click here and here. If Pressman's advertising statement is true THEN Pressman limits the selection to Symetra and Liberty Life Assurance Company of Boston
- Fact: Weiss Ratings was acquired by The Street.Com in August 2006. The ratings are known as Street.Com ratings
And there's more! In its structured settlement FAQ:
Pressman Settlements Corporation continues to falsely advertise that structured payments received by your estate or by your heirs are also received "tax free". The payments are income tax free but NOT estate tax free.
Pressman mischaracterizes on both the Pressman site as well as the website for Cybersettle Structured Settlements that "one of the exclusive features of a lifetime structure is its ability to provide more income over your lifetime". Unless Ms. Pressman is clairvoyant the statement is illogical because without an accurate date of death one cannot possibly know if a lifetime structure will provide more income over the lifetime. For example, a 35 year old paraplegic with a 12 years certain annuity who dies in year 7 will earn more "over her lifetime" than a lifetime annuity.
Pressman... your competition thanks you.
