By Michael Kaplen
On Saturday, September 25, I am honored to be the Chair of an important sports concussion conference, "Heading in the Right Direction: Strategies for Sports Concussion Management." which is sponsored by the Brain Injury Association of New York State.
The keynote address will be given by Chris Nowinski, president of the Sports Legacy Institute, ?Solving the Sports Concussion Crisis.? Several prominent specialists will then present on such topics as ER management, long-term consequences of concussion, sideline assessment, and policy updates.
The symposium will take place at St. John's University in Manhattan from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. This important conference is a must for student athletes and their parents, trainers and coaches, medical professionals, and anyone concerned about diagnosing, treating, and preventing sports concussions.
Registration is $75 for the general public and $25 for BIANYS members and their families. Student athletes may register free-of-charge. The cost includes breakfast and lunch. For more information, or to register online
