Mattress Savings?

By John Darer

ADVERTISEMENTS

Ma Nish Ta Na?

To paraphrase one of "The Four Questions" Why is this day different from all other days?

On every other day we see ways that you can save money ON a mattress

Today we see how "Sealy" it is to save money IN a mattress

As "Anat's mother" (the Israeli woman who is the talk of the world today) discovered, your mattress is not the place to keep "all my money in the world". Mattress savings IS NOT a sound financial strategy. It is one of the three pillars of unsound financial planning along with the cookie jar*TFM052 and the fake ketchup bottle. Ketchup_bottle_jumping_sm_clrFor one thing money in a mattress is not earning interest and it is not secure. A solitary mattress does not give you any diversification, although the woman did diversify her currency risk with both dollars and shekels.  And now that the mattress is in the dump and every frickin' newspaper and media outlet in the world is publishing the story you can be sure that NOW that there is "interest" in the mattress  the woman won't likely see any of it.
