"Zittrain on the Dangers of the Cloud"

Posted by Joe Hodnicki: "Lost in the Cloud, a New York Times op-ed contribution by Johnathan Zittrain, identifies some of the dangers of moving from manipulating and storing data on your computer to doing everything online where you entrust your files to service providers for access and privacy protection. Two recent examples of these dangers: Amazon's unilateral removal of purchase titles from Kindle devices, reported here, and the hacking of Twitter corporate documents stored on Google Apps, reported here. "But the most difficult challenge -- both to grasp and to solve -- of the cloud" writes Zittrain, "is its effect on our freedom to innovate."
