: Jenkins WebblitsTwitter Proves The 80/20 Rule
According to TechCrunch, there seems to be a lot more listening than talking going on with Twitter:
- Twitter accounts with less than 10 followers: 80.3%
- Accounts with 10+ followers: 19.7%
- Twitter accounts with less than 10 Tweets: 78.1%
- Accounts with 10+ Tweets: 21.9%
Bill Tancer, in his book “Click: What Millions of People Are Doing Online and Why it Matters“, talks his own rule, the 1-9-90 rule: 1% of users actually post their work on Web 2.0 sites, 9% edit or comment, and 90% are lurkers. He asks, “As it gets easier to create and upload content, will the 1 percent of actual contributors increase, or is the 1 percent a function of desire to upload and create content, regardless of complexity?” Maybe these numbers give us an answer.
P.S. - I’m up to 52 followers.
