A new battery technology is expected to impact hybrid electric automobiles and other power hungry battery operated devices. Using nanotechnology, A123Systems has developed a Lithium-Ion battery that doubles the energy density of current Lithium-Ion battery technology, charges to 90 % of capacity in 5 minutes and is more environmentally friendly. The technology is based on work done at MIT and will be used in power tools this summer.
