According to an article summarizing the American Lawyer's new Am Law 100 survey results, 2008 (the year covered by the 2009 report) was the first year since 1991 that both average profits per partner and revenue per lawyer dropped.  The news wasn't all bad: profits per partner were $2 million or more in sixteen of the firms included in the survey. And the downturn was not so acute for firms headquartered outside New York. Twelve firms with headquarters in Texas or D.C. actually reported higher revenue and profits. The article includes links to the survey results, including the Percentage Change Year-Over-Year by Firm.
