Economic Crisis Prompts Courts to Push to Collect Fees and Fines

According to the an article in the New York Times, several states including Florida, Georgia, Michigan, Oregon and Massachusetts have either already stepped up the collection process for people who owe fines or are planning to do so.  If present trends continue these efforts will almost certainly accellerate in court systems throughout the United States.  Dan Hall, the Vice President of the National Cenrter for State Courts said that 44 states are now facing budget defecits and 25 state courts systems have budget shortfalls.
