By james_fudge
Ubisoft has inked a deal with partnered billionaire Richard Branson's new tournament game startup company Virgin Gaming, according to Venture Beat. The deal will see Virgin Gaming provide the multiplayer tournament services for such titles as Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Future Soldier. Ubisoft says that the deal will bring Ubisoft game players social networking and competitive gaming features.
While Virgin Gaming has gotten a lot of attention since it was announced at E3 in June, there's plenty of competition in the space including Worldwinner and King.com - but both companies handle a lot of casual titles not focused on the 18 to 35 male demographic. Virgin Gaming will stage promotions through various retail and publisher partnerships. Virgin Games will make the bulk of its money through a 12 percent fee it charges for each tournament it is involved in as well as sponsorship revenue.
