: Legal Pad | LAPocklington pleads guilty to perjury
By Richard Binder
According to USA Today, it turns out Peter Pocklington's pockets weren't as empty as he had originally claimed.
The former owner of the Edmonton Oilers pleaded guilty yesterday to perjury a Southern California bankruptcy fraud case. He had been arrested last March on allegations that he concealed his control of two bank accounts and two storage facilities during bankruptcy proceedings.
Under a plea agreement that allows him to avoid avoid a possible 10-year jail sentence, Pocklington will cooperate with the Internal Revenue Service in determining his individual income tax liability for the years 2006 through 2008.
He is also required to make full restitution.
