Ohio Bank Robber Is a Helluva Nice Guy

By Eric Lipman

ADVERTISEMENTS
Here's a heartwarming little story out of Columbus, Ohio. Yesterday, a gentleman (pictured) robbed a bank in that city. After showing a teller a gun in his waistband, he walked out of the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. During his getaway, he came across a mother and daughter window shopping, and stopped to hand each of them a $100 bill. They were understandably dubious. After all, it's not every day that a perfect stranger walks up to you on the street and hands you a Benjamin. They questioned the authenticity of the bills: The women asked him, "This isn't real, is it?" and the robber responded, "I can assure you that it is." Alas, the pair, who were in town visiting Ohio State University, ended up turning the money over to the police when they found out from whence it came. But I give the robber an "A" for effort. It's the little things like this that periodically renew my waning faith in the inherent goodness of humankind. I'm all warm and fuzzy like I just hugged a puppy. Bruce, please update your Checklist for Bank Robbers to include "Share the wealth."
