: Legal Pad | LAO.C. judge sides with nudists, for now
By Jason Siegel
Orange County Superior Court judge Sheila Fell tentatively ruled yesterday to stop the planned nudity ban by the state parks department, the San Diego Union-Tribune reported (here).
An end to the three-decade-old safe haven for naturists, the 1,000 foot Trail 6 beach, was announced by park officials in June. Enforcement was set to start on Labor Day. The Naturist Action Committee filed a lawsuit the next month accusing the parks department of violating the Administrative Procedures Act by seeking a nudity ban without seeking public input, the Orange County Register reported (here).
Fell
ordered the state to "maintain the status quo," holding back the Labor Day start to the ban.
