O.C. is a MoFo no more

Morrison & Foerster closed its Orange County office after losing two litigation partners to Manatt Phelps, The Recorder reported.

Dean Zipser was head of the MoFo office as well as its litigation department. He was the president of the Orange County Bar Association in 2005 and the O.C. chapter of the Association of Business Trial Lawyers in 2004. Zipser focuses on complex actions in intellectual property, contracts, business torts, real estate, construction, consumer class actions and lender liability.

Thomas Umberg previously was head of MoFo's O.C. office. Umberg's a former state legislator, assistant U.S. attorney in Los Angeles and Orange County was deputy director at the White House's Office of National Drug Control Policy. Besides that, he's a colonel in the U.S. Army Reserve and prosecuted prisoners being held at Guantanamo Bay. Umberg focuses on litigation and federal and state policy and regulatory matters, as well as domestic and international project development.
