Judicial committee backs censure of L.A. Judge Manuel Real

By Jason Siegel

ADVERTISEMENTS

A federal Committee on Judicial Conduct ruled in a misconduct case against a Los Angeles Federal Judge  Manuel Real that a pattern of "arbitrarily and deliberately" disregarding legal standards may be misconduct - but only if it is clearly shown to be willful.

The 9th Circuit Judicial Council previously reprimanded Real for failing to explain the reasons for 72 of his decisions in 72 cases and "demonstrating recalcitrance" in following court of appeal orders.

"Judicial committee backs 9th Circuit's censure of L.A. federal judge", The National Law Journal
"Federal judge could face harsher punishment", The Los Angeles Times
