: Legal Pad | LAInterim Orange County Sheriff faces dress code probe
By Jason Siegel
The state attorney general is looking into whether interim Orange County
Sheriff was illegally dressed last fall, the Los Angeles Times reported.
A supporter for Lt. Bill Hunt's 2006 election campaign for sheriff alleges interim illegally dressed in uniform while trying to dissuade the San Clemente Council from endorsing Hunt.
The supporter, Timothy R. Whitacre, cites a state law prohibiting non-elected law enforcement officers from appearing in uniform during political speeches while the sheriff's department says the speech wasn't political in nature.
