Adkins leaves OC for DC

Robb Adkins, the top federal prosecutor in Orange County, left the U.S. Attorney's Office last week to head a government agency aimed at quelling financial crime.

Adkins will handle a variety of criminal and civil actions as part of the Financial Fraud Enforcement Task Force, which was created by President Obama last November.  The task force will combat mortgage, securities and corporate fraud.

Adkins has been a federal prosecutor since Sept. 11, 2001. He became chief of the U.S. Attorney's Office in Santa Ana in 2007. More recently he was one of three prosecutors who handled the Broadcom prosecution against several former executives.  He was also part of the team that won convictions of former Enron executives Ken Lay and Jeffrey Skilling.
