The working class hero is no longer something to fear.

ADVERTISEMENTS
I saw a commercial today for a collection of John Lennon's songs, and at one point in the commercial "Working Class Hero" was playing in the background. It got me thinking.

Lennon is right that the working class hero is something to be feared-but unfortunately we lose that power if we don't exercise it. And we have lost that power.

Why should our government fear the working class anymore? It's not like we take a stand about anything important anymore anyway. All we care about are hot button issues that have nothing to do with our own actual lives.

Abortion, gay marriage, etc. Unless you have an abortion or are gay, these things don't affect you. Not really. And if they don't, what do you care whether they are legal or not? Why not let those who want it have it? It doesn't change your life at all.

But we get distracted by the political scum who use it on purpose to distract us from the fact that oil companies are making record profits while we can barely afford to put gas in our cars. As an example.

Why should the government fear the working class anymore? They have us right where they want us and we don't even know or care enough to say anything about it, let alone do anything.

I'm sad for our country.
