late night

My mom is visiting this week. As it turns out, Dan in the middle of his second late night of the week at the State House, so her being here is really nice. I forgot that my mom can do a Daffy Duck impression. Becca loves it.

Late nights are crappy, even if it is in service of the casino bill or the local aid bill or what have you. At least this only happens a couple times a month. This is just Reminder #900 of why I am really glad neither of us will work big firm hours. Everyone's relationship works differently, and some people work late all the time or have lots of business trips and nights apart and have a happy and strong marriage, and that's great. It's not us, though. I like eating noodles sitting on the living room floor with Dan and Becca in her Boppy lounger, talking about political news, fighting for Jeopardy clues, and switching off who's making faces at the baby. I like doing it every night. It's a simple life, and a good one.
