But... isn't it cheating?

ADVERTISEMENTS
Ok, maybe not. But at some point I have to decide whether to accept any accommodations Suffolk may offer me because of my ADHD. Specifically, more time on the exams. The thing is, who wouldn't want that? Do I really need it, though, especially if the medication is working?

All growing up, I hated it when people were easy on me in a competition. I always, always, always wanted to play fair and square, and I absolutely hate winning if it's because someone let me. Winning because someone's giving you a handicap isn't something to brag about as far as I'm concerned. Unless disabilities are involved, of course, and that's the thing.

Even though ADHD is considered a disability, I'm not sure how I feel about the idea of accepting extra time on the exams. I didn't realize how much easier it was for everyone else to focus and organize their thoughts until I started taking dexadrine, but still... I can't help but feel that it's cheating, a little bit.

What do you think?
