A lot of old and unreliable polls say that Hillary is winning big in Wisconsin.

Notice that the most recent of them was taken December 9, 2007.

So you have very little info to go on if you're Hillary's campaign. And you're stuck in a dilemma. How hard do you try to win?

If you try really hard, and then lose, you risk spending a lot of your limited cash resources before going into several weeks where you need to be campaigning hard -- in Texas and Ohio.

If you try really hard, and then lose, you risk the media covering it in a way that you were really putting your eggs in this basket. When you tried really hard, you still lost.

Still, I think she has to go for it. She has a week to spend in Wisconsin. There are a lot of students and certainly a lot of upper-class voters where she's losing to Obama.

But there are a lot of rural areas, a lot of dairy farmers, and plenty of white people.

If she can pull out a narrow victory in Wisconsin, it will certainly help her frame the case that she's stopped Obama's momentum going into March.

Otherwise she's staking all of her hopes on the March 4th states. Very risky.
