So You Think You Can Dance (4/20/2008)

By Steve Pirates

ADVERTISEMENTS

Because I am such an awesome paragon of studiousness I am watching the tryouts for So You Think You Can Dance. I really enjoy the show. I think that dancing is amazing. If I could re-do my childhood, I think I would have taken up dancing when I was still young and limber. The way that some people can move is just utterly astounding.

The only thing that I don?t like about the show is that when someone is boring or sucks during the audition, the judges will often say, ?That wasn?t dancing.?

I disagree, I think that the nature of dancing is anything that is movement to music that the person dancing enjoys. I think that the statement, ?That?s not dancing.? is narrowminded and sad. I would have no problem if they said, ?That was not good dancing?, or, ?That dancing lacked artistry, or merit.? But to categorically deny that someone is dancing is a low blow.
