Orale Hilda!

Both Dan and I have been given a snow day, so while I'm still sick, things are looking up. As a follow-up to my last irritated post, I would like to give BIG UPS to Rep. Hilda Solis for being nominated as Labor Secretary. She's the child of Latino immigrants, has 6 siblings, grew up in El Monte and now reps it and a bunch of nearby areas that contain a lot of King Taco joints, if you know what I'm saying. That makes her almost as cool as my mom, who had eight siblings, grew up in East L.A. and hung around to teach and be a principal there for the last 30 years.

Anyway, Solis at Labor plus Bill Richardson at Commerce makes two Latinos up in the Cabinet working on employment issues. I hope the crazies who say Mexicans steal all their jobs like that one. We're in ur administration, running ur job system, guys.
