It was not a great finals season for me. Let me underscore that has a 3L with a job in hand, my motivation to excel on my exams is really minimal. Don't get me wrong; I'm really focused on learning the material, if for nothing else, pass the bar. My primary motivation is learning things that will improve my skills as a lawyer, which, unfortunately, doesn't necessarily line up with jumping through the often ridiculous hoops of law school exams.

First, my computer blew up during the first week of finals. The goal was to have my PC last me through the bar next July. Thankfully, that's still the goal. I had to get a new hard drive and the boys at the lab were able to recover almost everything. Still, my PC is on its last leg. I feel like I'm back on my mission, where every article of clothing was simply disintegrating as I wore them because I wore all my suits/shirts out. In fact, when I got home after two years in Japan and I gave my parents a hug at the airport, the suit I was wearing simply went *poof* and disappeared. That's what I want my laptop to do after I take my last test on the bar.

Second, I was sick for almost two weeks and it just so happened to be right in the middle of the narrow finals. It wasn't a deathly illness, but the kind of lingering, energy sapping sickness that kills your study time.

Third, on the day that I was feeling like I was almost completely over my illness and I was going to begin studying in earnest, he following event happened. I took my car into the dealership on a Friday. The next day, I get a call from the dealer telling me they cannot find my car. Long story short, they gave the car to the wrong customer but they were able to retrieve it. While they did comp the car work, it destroyed my day, and set me even further back on my studying.

I finally finished my last two finals this week and I didn't feel great. Both of them (Biz Org and Legal Pro) were entirely multiple choice. Can you imagine that? There are 101 students registered in my legal pro class and our entire grade will be based on only 36 multiple choice questions. 36! I felt like I was guessing on more than half of them. Biz Org wasn't a lot better.

I really will be thrilled with a C in either of those tests. If I get a B or better, it was all part of the plan.

Only one more semester! I think I can stay sufficiently motivated for at least a few more months.

On to Christmas break!
