One Down Three To Go.

By Steve Pirates

ADVERTISEMENTS

Today I woke up at 5:19a.m. in order to actually be awake by the time testing started. In order to accomplish this I went to bed at 8:30pm last night. Surprisingly I actually fell asleep pretty quickly. Normally, the night before an exam I toss and turn and “pre-game” the exam to death. It usually leaves me tired in the morning, and not able to really get going before exam time. This time I got a full night’s sleep in, and felt alert and awake for the exam.

(K)ontracts final went…. ok I suppose. I don’t know. I have this nasty habit of being over-prepared on one area of law that isn’t tested as heavily, and under-prepared on an area that forms the basis for a large chunk of the test. For instance: I own the Parol Evidence Rule. I also own the Statute of Frauds. I’m ok at assignments/third party beneficiary things. I get the general concept, I’ve done the CALI lessons on them and scored reasonably well. But I’m not as strong there.

So of course, at least ten questions today were on third party beneficiaries or assignments, and about six total for both Parol and SoF. I guess I’m SoL on that one. All in all it was a reasonably difficult test. Some of the questions were a little tricky, but most of them were straight forward. I do not feel that I failed, but I doubt I’ll finish in the top 10% of this class gradeswise. I guess I can really only hope for some major push-points based on class participation on this one.

Now I have to shift gears for my Property final scheduled for Saturday morning at 8a.m.. It’s hard to shift gears like this. There is a natural inclination to do a post-mortem on the exam, look up as many of the rules as you can remember being tested on, and talking with all your section mates about who got what. I’m trying really really hard to avoid that this go around with finals.

Today I’ll study till about 9p.m., then relax and go to sleep. Tomorrow I’ll study all day and try and get to bed really early again so that I can be up at 5:30a.m. on Saturday (as opposed to my normal habit of going to bed at 5:30a.m. on Saturday.) Wish me luck!
