More Detention Clippings

The Globe did a nice thorough article on Monday about how much money immigration detention brings to Bristol County, and general concerns about the expansion of detention. My director is quoted in it (and even got an anonymous nasty phone call. Fun!)

There is also a brief video that shows the exact units in which we conduct intake. Weird to see on film.

Not to be deterred, she also got a letter in today's NYT reflecting on their excellent coverage of ICE's Fugitive Operations teams, which have just been shown to cost more than $600 million to do the opposite of what they promised Congress, which was to focus on criminals with outstanding deportation orders. Instead, they've been sending lots of armed agents around to round up mostly ordinary violators who've never been in the system, and doing so in some really questionable ways. See the Migration Policy Institute report for some eye-opening reading. It has charts!
