Charles Rangel Agrees With Me

By wt

ADVERTISEMENTS
Earlier today I said I thought Obama's spin on Hillary's MLK statement was really bad.

Charles Rangel, the congressman from NY, and admittedly a Hillary supporter, agrees here. Except I said Obama just had a really bad argument. Rangel calls the spin "absolutely stupid." Nice.

I would challenge anybody to belittle the contribution that Dr. King has made to the world, to our country, to civil rights, and the Voting Rights Act,? said Rangel. ?But for him to suggest that Dr. King could have signed that act is absolutely stupid. It's absolutely dumb to infer that Doctor King, alone, passed the legislation and signed it into law."

Rangel goes farther, blaming Obama for playing the race card. Ouch.
How race got into this thing is because Obama said ?race,?? [said] New York Rep. Charlie Rangel, one of the highest-ranking African-Americans in Congress.

Hillary needs to take Rangel on tour with him. He takes what I think is a good point, and then escalates and blows it up to a devastating attack.
