The Champ and His King

Ken Jennings had a book signing tonight, way the heck out in Newburyport, which is an hour with no traffic. And after work on a Friday, there is traffic. Naturally, I packed up our newborn, brushed the snow off the car, picked Dan up at work, and we headed out there. Because we have a fever, and the only cure is more Jeopardy.

Dan totally got recognized by a host of trivia fans, a guy with autism or something, and a pack of teenage girls. Ken himself had to be told by a guy in line who Dan was, but then instantly got it, volunteering Dan's last name and that he had broken the five-time curse. Neat! Ken was, as I expected, super normal, friendly, and kind of a dork. I liked him a lot. Becca was VERY well-behaved, drinking a little from a bottle, keeping her fussing to a minimum, and napping in the Moby wrap, which I can't live without. ONE minute after being snapped into her car seat on the way home, she let out a scream and then pooped. I swear she was just holding it together for our benefit until she knew the public was gone. Smart baby!

On the way there, I was worn out and fairly emotionally unstable from the usual fatigue and a day with one poop blowout (highly unusual for her, and gross) and two rounds of spit-up down my shirt (ditto, and ditto). One fun book signing and one stop at Wendy's for snacks and baby-changing later, I was in a great mood Nothing like a Frosty and a huge mood swing to get you going again.
