Calling it for Romney at 5 percent reporting

By glanko

ADVERTISEMENTS
It seems as if Romney, who currently holds a 6-7 point lead over McCain at this point, will see his lead only grow as the night wears on. Why?

Romney is a huge favorite in the Detroit and surrounding suburbs (Wayne County, Oakland County) where he beats McCain something awful, like 50 percent to 27. These areas are at zero to one percent reporting at the time of this publishing.

Meanwhile, McCain strongholds in Northern (upper lower pennisula) Michigan, such as Grand Traverse County where McCain rallied this morning, are at 14-15 percent reporting - but Mac is still down. So ... as the mess from Detroit gets sorted out, and more votes roll in, a Romney victory will seem more clear. And McCain isn't hanging around to see this finish; he's already off to SC.

Oh, and if I didn't say so before, I'm in Michigan. The turnout was expected to be 20%, but looks more like 15% at this point. Truth be told, the weather hasn't been all that bad.

That's right, the blog flew me out here for this race. EU: sparing no expense in bringing you the latest in political commentary - See you in SC.
