Law Students

At 50

By Andrea

I liked CM's faux-explanation of where she and her family will be when she's 50. In my case, Becca will be 24, finishing her stint in the Peace Corps or Americorps or what have you and starting grad school. Her brother and/or sister will be in college, wearing their hair stupidly and protesting for something I find socialist and silly. Dan will be retired from his days as a Capitol Hill power broker and on a college tour, doing trivia demonstrations, public debates and signings of The Political Junkie's Trivia Trove, Vol. 3, coming home to beg me if we can get a fourth rescue golden retriever.

And me? I'll have a 25-hours a week family immigration law practice and the rest of the time write the next novel in my paperback series about a community law clinic with lots of inspiring immigrant clients and college interns with wacky hijinks. (TV development deal in progress.) Also I will do vegetarian cooking segments on the local morning show once a week, called "Eat Your Veggies." I will reflect often how the fact that my nomination as Assistant Attorney General, Civil Division, got screwed by archives of this blog turned out OK after all.
