: AFL-CIO NOW BLOGBuild a Billboard for Boehner
By Mike Hall

House Minority Leader John Boehner (R-Ohio) appears to have two favorite pastimes. The first is bashing everything President Obama and congressional Democrats are doing to revive the economy?including Wall Street reform, job creation, unemployment insurance benefits, health care reform and on and on and on.
The second is golf. Boehner, who has been described as not having the most intense work ethic in Washington, found time to hit the links?some very tony, private links at that?119 times last year. According to Federal Election Commission, Boehner?s PAC spent nearly $83,000 on golf outings last year.
You can lend a hand to help the 7.9 handicapper improve his game with more time on the course by helping Justin Coussoule?s bid to unseat Boehner. Together with ActBlue, the AFL-CIO and People for the American Way are holding a contest to pick what golfing Boehner billboard to erect outside his ritzy home in a gated community in Wetherington, Ohio.
Click here and scroll down for all six of the possible billboards. You can vote for your favorite with a donation to Act Blue. The AFL-CIO and People for the American Way are matching your donation to give it even more yardage down the political fairway. When you choose your favorite, you?ll be linked to Act Blue. The billboard with the most votes will be erected.
Coussoule is running with labor?s support in Ohio?s 8th Congressional District. He is a West Point graduate, a former Army captain, a lawyer and a small business owner. He and his wife, Amanda, also a West Point graduate, have two children. Says Coussoule:
Instead of defending the voters in his district, John Boehner promised his Wall Street donors he would stand in the way of reforms and consumer protections in exchange for campaign contributions. I cannot stand by and watch John Boehner, who has led this district to two decades of lost jobs, shuttered factories and hollowed out Main Streets, collect money from Wall Street.
