: China HearsaySlow, Yet Racy, News Day
By Stan
Still catching up from the holiday, so nothing exciting from me on the blog front.
In addition to being generally busy, the news itself has not been much of a source of interest thus far in 2009. Today, for example, the top story seems to be about the government’s attempts to eradicate Internet porn. The last link there, to a Danwei post, has a handy set of links to the offenders’ pages, so if you are in need of pics of young girls in underwear, enjoy.
In a (perhaps) related story, the Christian Science Monitor (h/t China Digital Times) introduces the topic of Internet rehab in China, for folks that can’t seem to pry their sweaty little hands off that mouse as they surf for pics of young girls in underwear. Well, perhaps some of them are also playing games — sexy games, I assume.
To some degree, I suppose, this is a welcome change from the other news that we have had the pleasure of looking at for the past couple of weeks, year-end retrospectives of how shitty the economy is. Oh yeah, and also pieces predicting how much crappier the economy in 2009 will be.
On the whole, I would rather read about Internet pornography than unemployment and deflation.
A wise person once said (can’t remember who) that if Internet porn sites were suddenly banned, the entire Internet would consist of a single website, which would be a small banner that said "Where did all the porn go?"
Makes you think, hmm?
