: Threat LevelVerdict Expected in Murdoch Hacker Trial this Morning
By Ryan Singel, Kevin Poulsen, Sarah Lai Stirland, Kim Zetter, and David Kravets
The jury deliberated only one day after a month of proceedings and reached its verdict Tuesday afternoon. The verdict has been sealed, however, and will be revealed this morning after a hearing discussing something one of the jurors said to a lawyer for the plaintiff.
The case involves the Uk/Israeli firm NDS Group, which is majority owned by Murdoch's News Corporation. NDS, which makes access cards used by DirecTVs satellite system, is accused of hiring a hacker and admitted pirated named Christopher Tarnovsky to help sabotage its competitor NagraStar, which makes access cards used by DirecTV's rival Dish Network.
According to a Reuters report the female juror in question passed lawyers for Dish Network in the hallway last week and wished them "good luck."
